1. Our commitment
[Operator legal entity name] wants everyone, including people who use assistive technology, to be able to browse, buy and sell on AfricanDiscountFoods. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, which is the standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882, in force for e-commerce services since 28 June 2025), the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508 as applied to websites, the UK Equality Act 2010, Ontario's AODA, Australia's Disability Discrimination Act, and equivalent laws elsewhere.
2. Current status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA: most content and functionality conform, and the exceptions are listed below. We have not yet completed an independent third-party audit; the assessment is based on internal testing with keyboard navigation, screen readers (NVDA and VoiceOver), browser zoom to 200%, and automated checks.
3. What we have done
- Semantic HTML with proper headings, landmarks, lists and tables so screen readers can navigate the structure.
- All functionality available from the keyboard, with visible focus, including the basket drawer, checkout, seller dashboard and language and currency selectors.
- Form fields with associated labels and clear validation messages at checkout, sign-in, the store wizard and recipe sharing.
- Text that can be resized to 200% and layouts that reflow to a single column on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
- A light and dark theme that respects your saved preference, and colour never used as the only way to convey information (statuses also use icons and words).
- Right-to-left layout for Arabic, and 21 interface languages, with the document language set correctly for screen readers.
- No content that flashes more than three times per second, no auto-playing audio, and animations that are short and decorative.
- The site works without JavaScript for reading, and as an installable app with no dependence on third-party scripts.
4. Known limitations
We are working on the following. If any of them blocks you, contact us and we will help you complete your task another way.
- Product artwork. Many product cards use an emoji and colour tile rather than a photo; the product name provides the accessible label, but some emoji may be announced verbosely by screen readers.
- Seller-uploaded photos do not always have meaningful alternative text; we ask sellers to describe their photos and fall back to the product name.
- Machine-translated interface languages marked “beta” may contain errors that affect comprehension. English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili and Afrikaans have been reviewed.
- Colour contrast for some secondary text in dark mode and for text over hero photographs may fall below 4.5:1 in places; a contrast audit is in progress.
- Charts in the admin console are visual; underlying figures are listed in text on the same page.
- Stripe's hosted checkout page is operated by Stripe; Stripe publishes its own accessibility information.
- Timeouts. Sign-in sessions last 30 days and the live connection to our server reconnects automatically, but a long-idle checkout may need to be refreshed; your basket is preserved within the same tab.
5. Compatibility
The site is designed to work with the current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack screen readers, with browser zoom and operating-system text scaling, and with speech-recognition and switch-access tools that rely on standard controls. Browsers more than two major versions old may not be fully supported.

If you have difficulty using any part of the site, or want information in an alternative format (for example a plain-text copy of a policy, or help placing an order by email), contact us:

We aim to respond within 5 business days and to provide a workaround or fix as soon as we reasonably can. Accessibility problems are logged and prioritised alongside other defects.
7. Enforcement and complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the body responsible for accessibility enforcement in your country, for example the market-surveillance authority designated under the European Accessibility Act in your EU member state, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (Great Britain) or Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, the US Department of Justice, the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario, or the Australian Human Rights Commission.
8. Technical information
The site is built with ASP.NET Core Blazor, HTML5, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript, served over HTTPS. This statement was prepared on 5 September 2026 and is reviewed at least annually and whenever a significant part of the site changes.
